Kapil Dev is one of the greatest all-rounders in cricket history and the captain who led India to its first World Cup title in 1983. A genuine fast-medium bowler and explosive batsman, he was the first player to complete the 4,000 runs and 400 wickets double in Test cricket, and retired holding the world record for most Test wickets with 434. His unbeaten 175 against Zimbabwe in the 1983 World Cup is among the most famous innings ever played. Renowned for his fitness, fighting spirit and inspirational leadership, he was named Wisden Indian Cricketer of the Century in 2002. After retiring he served as India's national coach and remains one of the most revered figures in the Indian game.
